Options for victims of domestic family violence:
Where an applicant for a partner visa has experienced domestic family violence, perpetrated by their sponsor, they may still be eligible for the grant of permanent partner visa
This is a complex process.
Evidence is required to demonstrate to the Department of Home Affairs that a genuine and ongoing relationship existed between the applicant and the sponsor. This is the same requirement for all partner visas.
Specific evidence is also required to demonstrate the family domestic violence occurred.
The legislation requires specific evidence and documents to be completed by family violence professionals listed by the Department of Home Affairs.
